Shopping and Waiting

Television, computer, guns and fishing poles have made it to Alaska. :)

We are still waiting on three boxes to arrive. I'm not unpacking everything because we are moving in a month. The scientists are moving out at the end of this month. Then the teachers that are subletting their apartment need to move out. Then maintenance wants to fix somethings and get us new furniture. I will gladly wait for that!

I've started a shopping list for Anchorage. Yes, we have only been here a week and I need some things. I don't need them that bad that I'm willing to spend lots of money at the AC store. I'm in the 49 club with Alaska Airlines so I get two free bags. I've already decided that I'm going to mail a huge thing of toilet paper, paper towels and detergent. I want a dish rack for drying dishes and another pitcher for making drinks. The air is really dry so I'm including a humidifier for Emily.

We bought frozen juice during the 50% off sale at the AC. We got home and realized that we didn't have a pitcher to make the juice in :(  We are using our milk jug for our powdered milk. Its always nice to have a bit of milk handy for mashed potatoes.

Instead of putting pictures on the wall, we are going to buy tapastries with neat designs on them. They are light weight and pack easily. Most importantly, you don't have to worry about lots of nail holes.

And as I was writing this stuff down in my journal, Abi came to me asking for a haircut. We are in Barrow, Alaska! There are no Great Clips in Barrow, Alaska! I think there is one lady who cuts hair, but I'm not paying lots of money for a haircut. Abi's hair is so long and pretty, but she is not liking all the tangles that keep happening. (I can't find the detangler right now.) Abi wanted her hair cut to her shoulders!

Yikes!

We talked it over and it was decided to take off 6 inches of hair. I've trimmed hair and I've cut bangs. I've never cut this much off of hair before. It was an adventure to cut her hair. I cut it while it was wet and fixed some spots when it dried. She looks adorable with her new do. I will take pics of it as soon as I can.

I didn't realize that I would have to do all this when I moved to Barrow. I wonder what else I have to do....
