Today is Georgia's birthday! She is a big 6 year old now!
We celebrated her birthday at school before she left and she had a small get together with her Grandma and Great Grandma. We still had a small party for her. I made sure that when we were packing food items that we included cake mixes and icing. I included some special pancake mixes just in case. Georgia really wanted apple cinnamon oatmeal for breakfast. Its her favorite and we are running low. I'm going to have to add it to my list when I go to Anchorage next month. Ocean Spray makes single drink mixes in Cranberry-Grape. They are delicious! I'm so glad that I packed a bunch of them.
For lunch we ate at the Northern Lights. We had pizza and chicken wings. :)
We made a trip out to Ilisagvik College. Its a distance away from town, if that's possible. It costs $12 one way for all of us by taxi. We wanted to see about classes for my Alaska license and summer programs for the kids. Unfortunately, the only class available for me is offered Monday and Wednesdays 7:30-9. I'm going to try for University of Fairbanks. I would like something online and nothing that late at night. I have kids that want to play sports and grading Physics papers and checking math always takes me awhile.
The college does offer summer courses for the kids. Em is on the waitlist for STEM camp. The camp is free for all North Slope students. The kids from neighboring villages get to fly in for free and stay at the college. I think its great to have that opportunity to earn college credit as a 9th grader, even if it's only 1 credit hour. Abi and Georgia are super excited for Circus Camp. They are going to love it from what I hear around town and its free. :)
Georgia's birthday cake was a chocolate crumb cake. She picked it! And Abi and I made it. It was good. Em came home late and was too tired to eat anything. IMPACT camp is wearing her out!
