This is a collection of recipes that we created while living in Alaska. We found them extremely helpful.
Basic Cobbler
This is our camping recipe. Its been used in West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennesee. Now it's Alaska's turn to use it!
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
2 cups of fruit or a can of pie filling
Preheat oven to 325°
I use a dutch oven so I melt my butter in it. While that's melting, I blend flour, baking powder, sugar and milk in a bowl. Add the mix to the butter when its finished melting. Then I add the fruit.
Sometimes I mix the fruit into the cake mix. Sometimes I leave the fruit on top. It depends on my mood.
Bake for about an hour or until it looks golden brown.
We serve it plain or with a side of ice cream. Sometimes we add it a bit of milk to it and serve it warm.
Yum!
