This is the start to Abi's costume. We have a stairwell that allowed us to paint without having a stinky smell in the house. This is an empty box that we saved from Fred Meyer. The paint was bought on Amazon.
I am so glad that I packed my glue gun and lots of glue sticks.
This was to be Georgia's costume which was going to be cotton candy. It did not work out very well. The pink dye did not stick to the fluffy cotton.
Emily needed the glue gun for her snakes. We glue gunned bobby pins to the back of the snakes. It made it easier to stick them in her hair.
Worked like a charm.
I work on this side of the building.
I would have to walk all the way around to get to my side of the building if I visit Toby. Crap! Good thing that it wasn't snowing or the wind wasn't blowing. I was able to just run across the parking lot. The date of the pictures are 10/26/14.
Our school has open gym, pool, weight room, wood shop, metal shop and auto shop. We were able to buy our alternator in Anchorage and bring it back on the plane. We spent about 2-3 hours putting it on and fixing some other problems with the truck. I took for granted the ability to work on our vehicles outside. Its too cold to do that here.
I will no longer complain about parking lots not being cleared. 10/26/14
10/26/14 - Drive home from the high school. There's a lagoon under that snow and the hospital in the distance.
10/26/14 at 6pm AC store. We don't see bright days like this anymore. The days are shorter.
Nice sky on 10/26/14
7 am on Halloween Night!
Abi's final costume! We rigged up a backpack system so the Doctor could be inside the TARDIS.
Georgia's new costume because the cotton candy didn't work out. I was able to tape boxes together and paint them. She was riding a unicorn. Amazing what I can do with paint, yarn and tape.
I feel like the Martha Stewart of bush Alaska!
Excited to get candy!
The Doctor and her sonic screwdriver!
Georgia at a church Halloween Party celebrating the goodness of God.
Lots of prizes to win!
Taking a selfie and someone joined in with it! Such a wonderful girl!
Georgia's costume.
They played lots of games at the church.
And I let her get her hair sprayed. It took 2 weeks for the colors to come out.
11/1/14 at 8:51 am! It looks like midnight!
11/2/14 at 10:55! The sun is just now coming up!
Seeing snow is an every day occasion. This ski-doo has been covered for awhile.
My windows are clear when I go to my car in the morning because I plug my truck into the outside outlet. This is hooked up so it doesn't drain my battery. It only works when I'm connected to an outlet. It makes things nice in the morning. It definitely takes the cold off the steering wheel. I have actually driven wearing my mittens because the steering wheel was so cold.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14. Not many houses out there. I hear rumors about bear sightings in the past on this road. I think its just rumors. Elders tell me not to worry. They tell me to bring a gun if we venture out of the town like to the point.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14. I like taking pictures on my phone. I think my little cell phone takes nice pictures.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14. I still can't believe that the sun came up at 11am! This is the land of extremes.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14. This was the return trip back to town.
Driving to CakeEater road on 11/2/14. The town is way out there.
This reminds me of an album cover.
Georgia and her pal were playing dress up. I'm so happy that Georgia is fitting in up here. She is speaking a lot of Inupiat. She has been trying to teach me the Pledge of Allegiance in Inupiat. Every morning we say the Pledge in English and then in Inupiat. I have half of it memorized.
11/06/14 at 7:30. This is the cemetery that is beside the school. Its a reminder of how tough it can be to live in the arctic.
11/7/14 at 10am. I like to play with my phone.
Beyond the sign is the Chukchi Sea.
Beautiful arctic. Did I mention that this is the moon?
Glad I was able to catch you up on everything.
